Welcome to the official website of the State Guard Family Readiness Group (SGFRG)
If you’ve ever wondered what an FRG is and what it does, you’re not alone. Many family members aren’t sure what an FRG’s role is, or how they can get involved.
An FRG is a Family Readiness Group. Its primary purpose is to support the readiness and resilience of service members’ families.
Regardless of the unit an FRG supports, all FRGs share the same mission: to keep family members informed and supported throughout a service member’s career, especially during periods of training, activation, or deployment.
How the SGFRG supports families and service members
We work to strengthen the broader service community by helping families stay connected to timely information and practical resources. When families know what to expect and where to go for help, service members can stay focused and units can stay ready.
Our support commonly includes:
-
Family communication (updates, newsletters, event notices, and resource guides)
-
Guidance and referrals to trusted support resources
-
Morale and community-building events that strengthen connection and resilience
-
Two-way feedback so concerns can be routed to the right channel and addressed appropriately
A “family-involved” approach
We believe readiness is a team effort. A family that feels connected and supported is better positioned to navigate challenges, stay engaged, and sustain long-term commitment—especially during high-demand seasons.
Volunteer-powered, mission-focused
The SGFRG is built by dedicated family members and supporters who volunteer their time. We are always looking for people willing to help in roles like communications, event support, outreach, and resource coordination.
