State Guard Family Readiness Group (SGFRG) began in 2016 as a battalion-level family readiness effort within the 2nd Battalion, 19th Regiment, Texas State Guard. The mission was straightforward: improve communication, strengthen family preparedness, and support the readiness of those serving.
SGFRG expanded during the Hurricane Harvey activation, when the demands of large-scale operations made family support and reliable coordination even more critical. During that period, the battalion effort grew into the 19th Regiment Family Readiness Group, providing a broader support structure for families connected to the regiment.
In 2020, the Texas State Guard reorganized its units into brigades. As part of that transition, the 1st Brigade Commanding General requested that the 19th Regiment FRG evolve into the 1st Brigade Family Readiness Group, aligning family readiness support to the new operational structure.
Across more than a decade of service, Stacy Dove has led the program’s growth and professionalism, building a repeatable model for family readiness support grounded in integrity, accountability, and practical outcomes.
Today, SGFRG is launching as a national 501(c)(3) public charity to extend that proven model to State Guard (State Defense Force) families across the United States. The mission remains constant: connect families to resources, strengthen readiness, and ensure that those who serve have support systems that are organized, dependable, and built to scale.
